NCERT Electro Magnetic Induction Physics Chapter Note Class 10

The process of producing induced current in a closed circuit or in a coil by changing the magnetic field linked with the coil is known as electromagnetic induction.

Whenever there is a relative motion between a magnet and a coil, a current is induced in the coil due to the change in the magnetic field associated with it. This process of producing induction current is known as electromagnetic induction.

Case 1

Let north pole goes inward, then galvanometer shows deflection toward right (say).

Case 2

When north pole goes away, then galvanometer shows deflection toward left(in opposite direction)

Case 3

When south pole of magnet goes away from the coil, the galvanometer shows deflection toward right.

Case 4

When south pole goes inward , the deflection toward left.

Case 1

When switch is on the primary coil, the magnetic field linked with secondary coil changes and the galvanometer shows deflection toward right (say).

Case 2

When there is a steady current in the primary coil the galvanometer will show no deflection.

Case 3

When the switch is off in the primary coil, magnetic field in coil B also change and the galvanometer shows deflection in the opposite direction.

Q : Name the rule which determines the direction of induced current in a

Answer :

Fleming’s Right Hand Rule

When fore finger, middle finger and thumb are arranged such that they are mutually perpendicular to each other.

If index finger points magnetic field and the thumb shows the motion of conductor, the middle finger shows induced current.

1.What are the characteristics of good source of energy ?

  • Which would do a large amount of work per unit volume and mass.
  • Be easily accessible
  • Be easy to store transport and
  • Perhaps most importantly , be economical

2.Characteristics of a good fuel

  • It should have good calorific value
  • It should not produce a lot of smoke
  • It should be easily available

3 . What are the disadvantages of burning of fossil fuel ?

  • Produces large amount of smoke
  • It can cause acid rain
  • It causes global warming
