The creatures of Bingle bog admired the nightingale’s song. Every was attracted towards it after she ended everyone clapped and cheered for her. She was applauded by all.

Answer :

The frog is a great psychologist. He knows how to exploit persons and situations to his advantage. He knows that the nightingale is innocent, timid. He becomes her self - styled guide and teacher. He makes her dance to his tunes. He tires her out to death. He asserts that he is the owner of the sumac tree.

3. Why is the Frog’s joy both sweet and bitter?

Answer :

The Frog’s joy is both sweet and bitter. His joy is sweet because he is able to earn a lot of money from the musical concerts at the cost of the nightingale. His joy is bitter because he is highly jealous of the nightingale who is becoming famous day by day. The frog can never get respect and admiration from the creatures of bog as everyone hated his harsh voice.

4. Why was the frog angry ?

Answer :

The frog was angry because his strain of long practice and over rehersal had adversely affected the nightingale’ s singing. As a result, her voice lost his beauty and her tired, exhausted songs appeared mechanical to audience and the creatures could no longer enjoy her songs. The audience twidled and ticket office crashed because of which the frogs earning declined. So, he lost his temper and scolded the nightingale badly, calling her brainless.

5. How did the frog become the unrivalled king of the bog again ?

Answer :

The fog was jealous the nightingale’ s song and wanted to ruin her. He then used to nightingale’s ability to earn money. The frog became angry because the nightingale’s had used to sing melodiously. Her song was so dull that no one liked it. This had suddenly crashed the income of frog. Then after this the nightingale’s was made to sing day and night and it died. Then he became the Unrivalled king of the bog with no one to compete him.

6. Bring out the irony in the frog’s statement – ‘your song must be your own’.

Answer :

Irony is literary device which means the expression of one’s meaning by saying something which is direct opposite of one’s thoughts. Earlier the frogs tells the nightingale’s that she should not boast about on her original songs but later on he finds fault in nightingale by saying, “Your song must be your own”.

7. you think the end is justified ?

Answer :

The end faced by the innocent nightingale is pitiful yet justified. It potrays the truth where evil people have an appear-hand over the innocent ones. Thus ,it is natural that the ‘innocence’ of the nightingale is killed by the ‘cruel’ and ‘crafty’ designs of evil symbolised by the frog.

8. Do you think the nightingale is brainless ?Give reasons for your answer?

Answer :

The poem justifies the fact that the nightingale is brainless as she doesn’t see through other’s intentions. She is innocent , simple and shy to the extent that she believes whatever the frog say’s. She should have been more careful. She should have been possessed the ability to see beyond what the frog had to tell her.

9. Inspite of having a melodious voice and bring a crowd puller, the nightingale turns out to be a loser and dies. How far is she responsible for her downfall ?

Answer :

The nightingale is herself, responsible for her own downfall. She does not use her capability to judge and evaluate sweet songs. That is why she is killed by the evil design of frog who plays her to her death.

10. Do you agree with the frog’s interference of the nightingale’s character ? Give reason for your answer .

Answer :

Yes, I agree with the frog’s notion of the Nightingale’s character. Being flattered and submissive and timied. She invited her own death upon her self. She should have been able to see through the frog’s plots and reverted accordingly. However , her innocence did not allow her to check the frog’s trick.

11. The nightingale has scaled the heights of success. But now the audience is dwindling, the frog is unhappy and reprimands her all the time. She is mentally and physically exhausted and fear failure. As the nightingales , write a diary highlighting her fears and analyzing the reason for her failure.

Answer :

I still remember the day the frog came up to me and said those sweet word. I was such a fool to not realize his tricks, my foolish nature making me feel so. The frog is such a big fake and I, being timid and foolish , believed him. Now, I notice I cannot sing as melodiously as I used to sing before .The witly frog charged fee and used to sing before. The witly frog charged fee and earned a lot .He compiled and threatened me to sing for hours, which ruined my melodious voice. He tortured me in the name of training and now I realize it was not training and now I realize it was not training but his plot to kill me. Now , death seems to be knocking at the door. Today I can’t sing as the frog desires me to, and I am physically exhausted. It was foolish of me not to have doubted the frog’s integrity. Thus, he took under advantages of my innocence and led me to my own death. I have come to terms with what might happen to me soon. Thus peacefully , I embrace death , which is inevitable. I want to pass on the message that we should never believe or have faith in other blindly.

Answer :

May the kind and innocent soul of the nightingale rest in peace. The nightingale was very innocent, timid, simple and compassionate. She was the symbol of human values. She was very virtuous. Her absence among us can be felt all the time. She bore evil towards none but had to pay the price of being innocent , submissive , simple hearted and credulous. The death of the nightingale teaches us that one must look out and be vigilant against sweet tongued people, who turn friendly instantly. We must all learn something from the sacrifice of the nightingale . We must shun the people having the qualities of the frog.
